What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronunced ray-key) is The Usui System of Natural Healing. It is an ancient Japanese hands on healing therapy that was developed in the early 1900's by Dr. Mikao Usui, Monk and healer. The work Reiki has two meanings. Rei which means God's wisdom or Higher Power and Ki which means the energy known to flow through all living things, together means Universal Life Force Energy.

Reiki energy is considered to be spiritually guided life force energy that is a simple, natural safe and noninvasive method of healing that everyone can use. Reiki and other forms of energy healing are now practiced in many parts of the world and, in fact, this natural system of healing is often used as an alternative, or complement to western medicine.

What Reiki Does:

Reiki works by allowing positive energy to flow into your body on many levels. This positive energy works to remove blockages that may exist in the major energy centers, as well as work on mental thoughts, belief and emotional patterns that block the natural flow of energy. Reiki strengthens the body's life force energies, thus restoring balance and harmony to the entire energy system.

How Reiki Works:

You relax, fully clothed, on a massage or Reiki table, or you can be seated. With light hand placements along major energy centers on the body, the healing practitioner channels the Reiki energy through his/her hands onto you or above you. A treatment can last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required.

There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions. The energy flows wherever it is required (spiritually guided) and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing ans soothing experience. Benefits of a treatment can include: stress reduction, deep relaxation, pain relief, improved mental clarity and enhanced creativity.
